HIKE (2021)
Writer/Director/Actor/Animator/Editor: Josh Lange
Time on project: August-September 2021
Week Three: August 15th-21st Lab Work
Classes: Mocap, Materials, Animation Retargeting, Lighting, Sequencer, VCam
In our cohort Scrums this week, Shenaz Baksh presented her film for the first time. It dealt with a very distressing event that she bore witness to in her real life. The raw truth of her film left our group speechless when it finished playing. She had hit a note with her film that none of us had seen from a Fellowship project before, and it showed real potential.
Since I was lagging on my presentation materials due to my tradeoff with working just on my story for a good week and a half, I focused on finishing all of my models and hacking the zombie characters to have decaying skin (and avoiding bugs like editing the master material for all the eyes instead of just the two zombies).

Once I had all the characters, I started on simple layout/previs for the 30 shots in my film to sync with the audio file I had finalized from my animatic. Since I still didn't really know what I was doing, I encountered a daunting amount of bugs. It was tricky to differentiate between which ones I could "ignore for now" and which ones I should seek help with to make sure they didn't bite me later on.
