Target Holiday Commercials/"The Toycracker" Mini-Musical (2016)

I was tapped to supervise the previsualization for Target's 2016 holiday campaign. The nine of us were to handle four promos/commercials and a seven-minute mini-musical (called "The Toycracker") within six weeks. At a brisk pace, we made sure to focus most on blocking, with simple animation and rigging, as well as lights and textures. Most correspondence was handled via phone, but the advertising agency 72andSunny also visited us at Proof, and I met once with the director and production company Biscuit Filmworks as well. The practical theater set had blueprints for us to follow, and there was an ongoing dialogue with production to make sure that there would be no surprises once principal photography began. Notes continued up until the last minute, but the team was nimble and handled the pace with great spirits. By the end we had quite a lot of content to look back on with pride.
