Bullet Train (2022)
Director: David Leitch
Company: MPC VFX Visualization
Role: Techvis Supervisor
Time on project: September 2020-October 2020
For our team at MPC Visualization, Bullet Train was a Virtual Production project where we explored camera coverage on a sound stage train set, in part chosen due to the restrictions of Covid 19. The goal was to determine how best to shoot and customize the 100 foot LED screens that ran on either sides of the train set, and I created a lower "hero extension" curve of LED panels that would fill any gaps in high-angle shots looking out of the train. We then projected footage of a train traveling through Japan onto our 3d model of the LED walls as a proof of concept.
Highlight: our team interfaced with the Lux Machina company, which had earned some of its fame from providing LED screens on projects like Solo and The Mandalorian.
