300: Rise of an Empire (2014)
Director: Noam Murro
Company: The Third Floor, inc.
Role: Previsualization Artist (uncredited)
Time on project: Summer 2012
Supervisor: Patrick Smith
300: Rise of an Empire was a project with very unique challenges. Most of our shots took place over an ocean, which meant our boats were subject to the motion of the previs ocean model we had and could control. Animating period characters with gratuitous blood FX and splashes was pretty fun, and the crew bonded well during our time at the Warner Bros. lot. Although the whole team didn't end up getting the screen credits we expected, the film's final shots matched the previs, and it served as a nice companion sequel to Zach Snyder's original 300.
